Raindrops

From the sky the raindrops came
seeking the warmth of the brown soil.

Thirstily the earth drank them,
Wetting its parched lips.

The flowers laughed,
Faces turned toward the heavens.

The great tree drew them to its heart,
It had known they would come.

A Different Beat

The tide flows steadily as the hour-hand's stealthy creeping.
   Swish, swish, swish

On the streets a car roars by, horn blaring angrily.
   ZOOM. Beep! Beep!

Like a dragonfly with eight wings a rowing shell shoots across the water.
    Boom, Swish, Click!

The rowers strain to keep up to the coxswain's call.
They pant raggedly.
    Haa! Haa! Haa!

Overhead seagulls cry.
  Keyaa! Keyaa! Keyaa!

Somewhere in the distance a drum plays.

I just got this up and running again. Previously this was my school English blog. But then it occurred to me that I like poetry and once I write it I need to do something with it, so I figured why not put it on a blog.
